A campaign to shop local is officially underway this weekend. The city of Broken Arrow is celebrating its 19th year of the “Buy Broken Arrow’ Campaign.
Members of the Broken Arrow Chamber said the goal of the program is keep sales tax dollars in the city.
Buy Broken Arrow gives Broken Arrow shoppers a chance to win a share of $15,000. Prizes of $10,000, $3,000 and $2,000 will be awarded on December 17th.
The General Manager of Full Moon Café in Broken Arrow Barrett Byrd told FOX23 that he was eager to participate in the campaign. The restaurant opened 6 months ago and Byrd said that he viewed “Buy Broken Arrow as an opportunity to boost business and to support the community.
“We are supporting every sales tax dollars spent n Broken Arrow which goes towards our schools, police and fire,” said Byrd, “By keeping the sales tax dollars local we are supporting the local economy.”
Tickets are handed out at participating vendors until Sunday, December 15th with the drawing taking place on December 17th at 3p at Moody’s Jewelry in Broken Arrow.
100 local stores are participating in this year’s campaign.
