Broken Arrow school officials say rumors of threats of violence at a Broken Arrow school are being investigated, but there was no hit list as there have been rumors.

District officials and Broken Arrow Police believe these rumors of threats are nothing but rumors.

The district told FOX23 over the past few days there were rumors circulating, mostly on twitter, about a student threatening to hurt other kids at South Intermediate High School.

The district and police have not pinpointed who started the rumors, but apparently a group of students admitted there were no real threats.

But the rumors continue to spread, even at other schools.

The rumor jumped to North Intermediate on Friday. And at Sequoyah Middle School students claimed to have found a note Thursday threatening 21 students were going to be killed on Friday.

Again, the district says they’ve found nothing to suggest any of these threats are real.

“We have the help of the BAPD, who are on our campuses today, just to have some extra presence there. We have some additional administrative staff that are on those campuses today just to be visible throughout the day, just because we want students to know that it is safe and that we are taking this seriously,” said Tara Thompson with Broken Arrow Public Schools.

None of the schools were ever on lockdown, but police and the district continue to monitor these rumors.

The district will be sending out a phone message to parents at the end of the day filling them in on what’s been going on and why they don’t think there’s any danger to the kids.

Broken Arrow Public School posted this on their Facebook page about the threats:

Over the past few days, there have been rumors about a possible shooting at a secondary school in Broken Arrow. District officials have been working closely with BAPD officers to follow-up on every lead, and so far there is no credibility to the rumors.

We have additional police officers and administrators on our campuses today, and we will continue to investigate any information that is brought to our attention. All parents will receive a phone call at the end of the day giving them any updates that may be available.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work to keep your children safe.

Broken Arrow police are at Broken Arrow South Intermediate High School as a precaution.

School officials said the threats were made on twitter and referenced shooting at the school. The school is not on lockdown.

Im a student at South and there isn't much happening here. A couple students were pulled out of class, but so far all there has been is rumors about what might happen. I'm not worried about it.

I am a little upset that after more than an hour, kids all notifying their parents of the situation, we have yet to hear from the school administrators.

My daughter is there now. Has been texting me about it. She said that the principals are "freaking out" and as of less than an hour ago, there was only one police officer there.
