Broken Arrow police are urging drivers to be cautious as Broken Arrow Public Schools return to class on Thursday.

Police said motorists should anticipate a substantial increase in traffic during the morning and afternoon rush periods, the presence of child pedestrians, school zone speed limits, congestion near area schools, the addition of school bus traffic as well as the large number of inexperienced teens driving to and from school.

Police will implement traffic enforcement to combat the traditional increase in traffic collisions when school opens. They will increase the number of police officers assigned to traffic enforcement for the first few weeks of school.
