Broken Arrow police arrested a woman they say was smoking marijuana while driving with her child in the car.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, a police officer noticed a car swerving on Highway 51 near 9th.

The officer pulled the car over and noticed all the windows were down and a large amount of smoke was coming from the car. According to the report, the officer said it smelled like marijuana.

The officer also saw a 20-month-old child in the back seat of the car, exposed to the marijuana smoke.

While waiting on backup, the officer said the woman in the car asked what was taking so long and the officer told her he was waiting on another officer so he could search the car for marijuana.

According to the police report, the passenger said, "Well it is right here," and opened the glove compartment and got a partially burned marijuana cigarette.

Police said the woman, Romaneka Hankins, submitted to a sobriety test and was unsteady on her feet. Police arrested her.

According to the arrest report, Hankins admitted the child was hers and she had smoked marijuana earlier and was smoking in the vehicle with her child present. Police said she also said she'd had a few drinks of alcohol before driving.

She faces charges of child neglect, possession of CDS presence of a minor, no security verification, failure to stay in single lane, and driving under suspension.
Blood was drawn for further analysis.

She could have objected to a search of her car. Maybe the dashcam video tells a more complete and believable story.
