Broken Arrow police arrested a man they said broke into three cars in a neighborhood and stole items.

One of the victims, a veteran, had his military backpack with his computer and a bag with uniforms stolen. Another victim had purses and cell phones stolen from their car.

Police used surveillance video from a nearby walking trail and spotted a man breaking into a truck by busting a window. Police tracked the stolen cell phones and found a man that resembled the man in the surveillance video.

Police said Matthew Lawwill admitted to breaking into three cars with a tire tool. Police said he then led them to wear he had thrown some of the items out of the car. Part of the items were recovered, including the military backpack.

The surveillance cameras dont prevent these crimes, obviously, and they actually only found the thief thru a cell phone. The cameras only provided entertainment.
