Broken Arrow police located and identified the suspect in an attempted abduction of a 13-year old girl on Friday morning.

A Broken Arrow police spokesperson says a 14-year old suspect confessed to trying to abduct a 13-year old girl around 7:15 Friday morning.  The girl was waiting at a bus stop in the 200 block of West Timberlane.  The victim told police the man put his hand over her face and drug her through a yard next to the bus stop. She was not injured in the attack.

Police say the victim said the attacker told her if she screamed he would kill her. But she screamed anyway, which caught the attention of a neighbor.

"I saw someone slip up behind her and grab her, and drag her across the cul-de-sac toward my house," Judy Blaylock said. "And I ran out the garage door and came around, and started screaming, screaming, screaming at him as loud as I could."

That's when the attacker let the victim go. The suspect ran away, and the girl ran home to her dad.

"I was getting dressed for work, and she comes running into the house and she was hysterical," the girl's father, James, said. "And she just jumped into my arms."

"I still don't know what to think. I mean, I've gone through a bunch of emotions. I was scared, and then I was angry, and then, you know, sad."

James said he was already an over-protective father. Now, he says it doesn't matter how old your kids are, or how much you've taught them about avoiding dangerous situations bad things can still happen to kids.

"It can happen anywhere, I guess, is all I can tell you. Watch your kids."

James also now realizes the importance of watching over other people's kids like Blaylock did for his daughter.

"She saved my kid's life today, I think," James said. "I plan on doing something real nice for her, because I can never repay her."

"I wasn't going to let him get her," Blaylock said. "I was not going to let him get her. That could have been my granddaughter standing out there on that curb, and I was not going to let him get her."

Police used information from witnesses and the suspect's clothing to identify him.

Broken Arrow police placed Springcreek Elementary School and Childers Middle School on lockdown for several hours after the incident as a precaution.

I think the schools were correct in doing the Lockdown...the person could have been a pervert with a gun and came into one of the schools when he was not successful in the kidnapping. I praise all schools who work hard to protect our little ones. I am a grandmother of 12 and it would break my heart if this happened to one of my grandchildren. Please always be aware as to what is going on...You never know when you might be the one to save a life and prevent something terrible from happening.

Since when is a 14-yeasr old boy considered a man? He is not even old enough to drive a vehicle! You all commenting really need to get your facts straight before you make accusations by calling this boy a man! This is the exact reason why children are not safe riding the bus! Anything can happen to them and it can happen to any child! If the children do ride the bus then their parents need to stand outside and wait with them until they get on the bus! I hope there are consequences for the boy's action and that he goes to Juvi so he can think about what he has done wrong. I also hope that his parents have enough moral values to discipline their child for what he has done wrong. Spring Creek Elementary and Childers middle school both did the right thing by placing the school on lockdown so that other children who attend those schools were protected and safe. I myself have a child that attends one of those schools and he would not have went to school today if the school did not take the precautions to avoid future attacks.

My granddaughter was approached by a man in a van. She got his description the tag number of the van while running to a neighbor that opened her door and took the baby in. They called the police and they came out took the report and eventually arrested the guy on other child related charges. When she went to court, they dismissed the case, cause she got the hair color wrong, it was brown and she said it was black. Thank God , she went on to graduate with no other instance but she was terrified every time she left the house, and now that she is 20 she still has problems. I'm so glad that the little girl is OK, but hopefully the law will try him and he goes to Juvie. The only problem is he will be out in 4 years, or never even see the inside of a jail. Let's all pray that he at least spends time in jail and she feels that she can go out and be safe!

If parents are so concerned about their children at the bus stop, why don't they wait with them until they are safely on the bus. I realize that there are demands to be at work early in the morning for most, but couldn't parents work together to come up with a solution regarding supervision in the neighborhood. Maybe those concerned could start neighborhood bus stop watch.

How is a 14-year old a man? This article clearly states that a 14-year old has confessed to the attempted abduction of a 13-year old girl.

He should get alot of attention from other inmates once they find out what he's in for. LOL. I'm so glad they nabbed this perv. I'd do my best to hurt someone that attempts to abduct my daughter

I say three cheers for this woman. It pays to be watchful. Besides we grandmas need to stick together, when no else is available those of us who are retired need to keep an eye out for ours and others children.

Lockdown?? What does that do for the kids outside waiting for the bus to and from school? Big brother is watching us everywhere, try and pass a red light and you will get a ticket in the mail, yet there are no cameras at the bus stops where our children are? The man got away? Where was his car? Where was he taking her? Maybe he lives in the neighborhood. I hope every parent see's how serious this is and keeps an extra eye out not only on their own kids but all kids. Thank God she was not harmed physically and hopefully she will not be emotionally damaged from this traumatic experience.

My son attends one of the schools which were locked down. The thing that concerns me is that the comcast call I received down played the incident and did not inform me that it was an attempted child abduction. Also, the incident occurred at 7:15 and the news was not released until around 9:15. Elementary schools start at 9, there are a lot of walkers in our area. Would it not have been safer to let all Broken Arrow parents know via comcast that there was an attempted abduction and the suspect was still on the lose while our children were getting to school?
