The City of Broken Arrow is asking resident to help conserve water due to the extreme heat and drought conditions.

City official say on Sunday citizens used 26.5 million gallons and on Monday 26.4 million gallons were used, record water consumption for Broken Arrow. Officials also say water usage in July broke a city record with 700 million gallons being used. Officials say the increase is taxing the city’s ability to provide water for customers.

Officials say beginning August 1st residents and businesses are asked to limit lawn and grounds watering to every other day. Customers with an even numbered address are asked to water only on even numbered dates while customers with odd numbered addresses are asked to water only on odd numbered dates. Customers are also asked to water only during the hours of midnight to noon.

The city implemented several steps to curtail its water usage, including:

1.Limited fairway watering to every other day at Battle Creek Golf Club

2.Limited watering to every other day of all sports fields

3.Limiting watering to the hours of midnight to noon

4.Closing all neighborhood spray pools

Aquatic facilities will remain open because both pools operate on a closed water system.

These conservation steps are in effect until further notice.
