The Broken Arrow Fire Department held a grand opening ceremony for its newest fire station on Monday.
The new station will be the city's second-largest fire station with 18 firefighters, 1 ambulance, a fire truck and eventually a brush unit.
"We anticipated growth in the southern portions of Broken Arrow which is why we strategically placed this station near the Creek Turnpike," said Broken Arrow Fire Chief Jeff VanDolah. "With the announcement of Warren Theatre and the Shops at Aspen Creek last month, we are even more fortunate to have this station opening in its current location."
The $3 million, 11,848- square-foot facility was funded by a 2004 bond issue. Construction began on the facility in September 2011.
