In a statement issued Tuesday night the city of Broken Arrow says it has appointed a new city manager.

In May, the city council voted to fire former city manager David Wooden who came under criticism regarding the city's handling of the Red Clay Casino project, now on hold due to a pending court case.

Tuesday night the city council voted unanimously to appoint Thom Moton to city manager.

"Through this interview process, Mr. Moton stood out to me, the other councilors, as well as the other groups that participated," said Mayor Craig Thurmond. "He is a true visionary that can lead Broken Arrow into the future."

Moton is currently the Interim City Manager for the City of Greenville, N.C. The city council will consider an employment contract for Moton at the Oct. 2 City Council meeting.
