Broken Arrow City Council announces finalists for city manager

The Broken Arrow City Council announced three finalists for the next city manager on Friday.

Former City Manager David Wooden was fired in April 2012 after working with the city for 22 years. Details of the termination were not released but Wooden had been criticized over his handling of the Red Clay Casino controversy.

“We want out next city manager to possess strong leadership skills and be able to continue our focus on retail job growth, public safety and our high standards for quality of life which makes Broken Arrow a great place to live and raise a family,” said Mayor Craig Thurmond.

The finalists include:

Gary Greer – Greer currently serves as the City Manager for the City of Farmers Branch, Texas.

Some of his previous positions include the City Administrator for the City of Grand Island, Neb.;

City Manager for the City of Manhattan, Kan.; City Manager and Assistant City Manager for the

City of Kearney, Neb.; and Administrative Aide to the City Manager for the City of University

Park, Texas.


Dean Kruithof – Kruithof currently serves as the City Administrator for the City of Branson,

Mo. Some of his previous positions include the Deputy City Administrator for the City of Fort

Smith, Ark.; Assistant City Manager for the City of Dekalb, Ill.; City Manager for the City of

Pittsburg, Kan.; Assistant City Manager for the City of Stillwater, Okla.; and Administrative Aide

for the City of Wichita, Kan.


Thom Moton – Moton is currently the Interim City Manager for the City of Greenville, N.C.

Some of his previous positions include Assistant City Manager for the City of Greenville, N.C.;

Assistant City Manager for the City of University City, Mo.; Assistant Dean of Ellis County

Center in Waxahachie, Texas; and Assistant City Manager for the City of Corsicana, Texas.


Interviews are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 13. Fifty-five applications from across the United States were accepted for the position.
