Bridge to be named in honor of fallen Tulsa Marine, TPD officer

A special ceremony will be held on Friday for the naming of a bridge in honor of a fallen Tulsa Marine and member of the Tulsa Police Department.
Marine Cpl. Jared M. Shoemaker, 29, was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2006. Before his activation, Shoemaker had served as a TPD patrol officer.
Signs on the north and south ends of the U.S. Highway 169 bridge over 81st Street for the “Corporal Jared Shoemaker Memorial Bridge” will be dedicated at the Friday morning event.
The ceremony will be held at the Tulsa Community College, 10300 E. 81st Street in Tulsa in Parking Lot 2.
