Business leaders and lawmakers meet in Washington to discuss the merger of American Airlines and US Airways.
Newly elected Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine met with leaders from both airlines and he says they told him the Tulsa plan is very important to the company’s future.
Bridenstine also says he assured company leaders the Tulsa area is dedicated to helping them move forward. “From a parochial standpoint, I want to make sure the new merged company is fully aware of what’s available in the first district of Oklahoma, that the American Airlines Maintenance Base is a premiere facility and that our workforce is second to none.”
Since the merger announcement on Thursday there is speculation about what will happen to workers of both companies. Officials say any changes are a long time down the line.
