Congressman Jim Bridenstine demanded President Obama’s apology to the state of Oklahoma on Tuesday.
Bridenstine spoke on the floor of the US House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon to address global climate change.
After making an argument against global warming Bridenstine questioned how much of the budget is spent on global warming research compared to funding for weather and tornado forecasting.
Bridenstine claimed 30 times as much is spent on global warming research as on weather forecasting, including tornado prediction. He said this is a misallocation of funds.
“Here’s what we absolutely know: we know that Oklahoma will have tornadoes when the cold jet stream meets the warm gulf air. And we also know that this president spends 30 times as much money on global warming research as he does on weather forecasting and warning. For this gross misallocation the people of Oklahoma are ready to accept the president’s apology.”
Bridenstine said he plans on filing legislation to change this spending allocation.
