The body of a missing fisherman was found on Lake Hudson in Mayes County on Tuesday.

The Grand River Dam Authority told FOX23 the body of 73-year-old Ira Stout of Sapulpa was found around 9 a.m.

GRDA police had been searching for Stout since Monday around 10 a.m. when his boat drifted on shore empty.

The search was centered at Lakeshore RV Park, where Grand River Dam Authority police launched four boats to find Stout.

While officials said there wasn't a lot of hope they would find Stout alive, they used every resource they could to find him as quickly as possible.

After his bass boat was found drifting close by around 10 a.m. Monday, a major search effort was launched.

"It was a big search party, yes," said Debbie Matlock, whose shore was used as a command post by GRDA police. "They searched till dark. And then they resumed the search this morning around 8 or 8:30."

Four search boats took to the water filled with highly trained crews and a helicopter overhead.

They used sonar equipment to search underwater. Eventually crews found Stout and were able to pull him from the water.

"I don't really have any idea, any theories on it. I just know they found his boat and found his… I guess found him not too far from his boat," said Matlock.
It's still unclear how Stout ended up in the water, but officials said he was not wearing a life jacket.
