Search teams in Claremore have found the body of a missing teen.
On Monday, crowds gathered as the Tulsa County dive team searched a lake where the ice appeared to have been broken.
They were looking for 15-year-old James Keith Chambers, who left his home Sunday afternoon and never came back. Police believe he might have broken through the ice on a pond behind his neighborhood.
A dive team searched a small retention pond for three hours Monday afternoon, however, the weather made it impossible for team members to find anything. The frigid cold and not enough daylight hours forced them to call off the search Monday night.
FOX23 talked to Claremore's Assistant Police Chief Charles Downum. "I know their equipment was failing and buoyancy was an issue and things such as that. Just the safety of the divers has led us to call it off for tonight," Downum said.
Police said they don't have any reason to believe he ran off on purpose without telling his family where he went.
"It's not likely and he hasn't had a history of doing anything like that before," Downum said.
Crews began searching the pond again around 8:30 on Tuesday morning, and found the body just before 11 a.m.
