Some Black Friday shopping lists could put Santa’s to shame. This year toys and technology will be at the top of many consumers’ lists. According to Toys 'R’ Us some of the most popular children’s items this season will be Skylanders Action Figures, an Illumivor radio controlled shark and Bounce-Bounce Tigger. The interactive Furby is making a comeback this year and will once again top the popular toy lists. A tablet designed for children, Tabeo, is projected to be a season favorite as well.
Terry Suarez is the connected business manager at the Best Buy located in Owasso. He tells FOX23 that one of the most popular technology gifts in the store right now is the I-Pad Mini. Suarez says that the new Windows 8 cellphone has created a buzz and Best Buy projects that hybrid laptops will be a hit this season as well. “A lot of the computers are now touch screen which also gives you the feel of a tablet,” said Suarez. This year your smart phone might be your biggest resource when it comes to nabbing deals while shopping. Social media expert Mandy Vavrinack told FOX23 that they are certain apps that she recommends utilizing before and during Black Friday shopping. TGI-Black Friday allows consumers to add and save items to shopping list before you even leave the house.
“They update the newest ads as they are released and they will tell when the ads come out and whether or not it is an actual sale price,” said Vavrinack.
A Smartphone app called Red Laser will price check items and tell you where the better deal can be located. Vavrinack says that Foursquare check in, Facebook and an app called Shop Together can help you keep track of friends and family members while shopping.
AT&T sells the XPAL PowerSkin charging case that will recharge your phone battery while you are shopping. “This particular model will give you an extra 200 minutes of talking time,” said AT&T spokesman Charlie Price. Shopping strategies

- Dress for the elements by wearing warm clothing and comfortable shoes.
- Keep in mind that stores are typically the busiest during the first three hours of operation so be patient and courteous to other shoppers while waiting in line.
- Pay with cash in order to stay on budget.
- Have someone drop you off and pick you up from the shopping center so that you can get in line and not waste time looking for a parking spot.
