Tulsa police are investigating after a man riding a bike was hit by a car.

Police say it happened just before 9 a.m. near N. Boston and Boston. They say the bicyclist was headed east, with a car not far behind him in the lane right next to him. Officers said the  bicyclist tried to turn left and went right in front of the vehicle.

Neighbors rushed to help the man who had serious head injuries. A doctor driving nearby and also a paramedic who lived around the corner helped until EMSA arrived.

Neighbors FOX23 talked to on the scene said the man lived closeby and they often saw him riding his bicycle.

The bicyclists, a 70-year old man, was injured and is in the hospital. Police are treating the investigation like a traffic fatality because they aren't sure if the man will survive.

The driver of the car will likely not get a ticket. He told police the man turned on his bike out of nowhere.
