FOX23 spoke directly with the man robbed at gunpoint in his Berryhill home. It happened around 1 a.m. near West 41st Street and South 49th West Avenue. The homeowner says someone knocked on the door, and when he opened it, two men rushed inside.
"He just barged on in and put the gun to my face, right between my eyes," said David Wayne Shaw.
Shaw still had a cut on his face when FOX23 spoke to him. He told FOX23 the two men, whom he'd never seen before, demanded money and when he repeatedly told them he didn't have any, things took a scary turn.
"He said get on your knees and he put the gun to my head, when he did that, that's when I said, well wait a minute, I think I have money in my wallet," said Shaw. "The first thing that came to my head was execution-style murder."
According to Shaw, the two men got away with a few hundred bucks and keys to his car and his house, but they skipped over more expensive electronics like a laptop and TV.
"Didn't take any of that stuff, all they wanted was cash," said Shaw.
As they ran off to a getaway car parked down the road, Shaw says he looked out thinking they were gone, and was surprised yet again with what he found -- a gun he says one of the men dropped on his front porch.
"I pick up the gun and I fired at him," said Shaw. "It turned out there was only one bullet in that gun and with that one bullet I hit him because he fell to the ground and he had a hard time standing up."
The men got away, but Shaw says this is all a bit suspicious. The reason he answered the door so late was because he thought it was a friend who was supposed to stop by. Instead Shaw was robbed, and that friend never showed up.
"I was expecting somebody else," said Shaw. "It's kind of a suspicion thing. I don't know."
Right now all FOX23 knows about the suspects is that they were in a car with a loud exhaust.
