A Tulsa icon is trying to rebuild one ride at a time.

The latest fundraiser for Bell's Amusement Park fell $40,000 short of the owner's goal.

Owner Robby Bell said the rides will continue to go up. The money just speeds up the process.

It's easy to tell Bell is passionate about rebuilding the amusement park his family started.

"The first time I went to work at Bell's I was five years old. I got more paint on me. Just something you are born into," he said.

He's still painting the rides today, this time to get them back up and running for a second time.

The latest fundraiser fell $40,000 short of what Bell hoped for, but still plenty to keep pushing forward.

"Nothing in our business is cheap, everything is big and heavy costs a lot of money," he said.

The donations will help the process.

"It's a lot of money for people to entrust in use to us, Now that we have a little bit of money, I can hire some guys to help me," he said.

The $20,000 will be used to get the Tilt-A-Whirl and two other larger rides, the Scrambler and Spider, built.
