A judge followed the jury’s recommendation and sentenced a Bartlesville teen to 30 months after he was convicted of planning to cause bodily harm.
Sammie Eaglebear Chavez, 19, was convicted in September of planning to cause bodily harm at the high school. Authorities accuse Chavez of planning a mass shooting and bombing at the high school, though no such attack occurred.
Chavez testified in his own defense and said he was joking about an attack. The jury recommended a 2 ½ year prison term for Chavez.
A judge sentenced him to 30 months with credit for time served, a $5,000 fine and $1,000 victims compensation, he’s also sentenced to one year of post imprisonment supervision.
