The Better Business Bureau urges consumers to be wise when buying items to support charity.

They say many ‘sound-a-like’ organizations try to take advantage of breast cancer awareness month in October. They say the companies may imply more money is being donated to the cause than is actually being donated.

They urge customers to check the packaging for disclosures of how much goes to charity and what organizations are supported. You can also look on a company's website for disclosures.

BBB Standards require all cause-related marketing, such as pink products, disclose certain information very clearly.
