BAPD hosts annual 'Night Out Against Crime' in Broken Arrow

On Saturday evening the Broken Arrow Police Department and local businesses partnered for the national “Night Out Against Crime.’

The free event was held on Main Street in Broken Arrow and offered a variety of games, food and safe trick-or-treating for children.The Broken Arrow Police Department and Broken Arrow Fire Department were on site visiting with Broken Arrow Citizens at the  National Night Out event.

Lisa Ford, the Crime Prevention Specialist with Broken Arrow Police Department, told FOX23 that officers want the event to be fun and they also have a larger mission.

“We want the kids  to see the officers and know that if I need help, if I get lost, that is the person that I’m going to,’ said Ford, ‘Maybe they'll remember that positive interaction that they had at events like this.”

Parents told FOX23 that the allowed their children to celebrate Halloween in a safe environment.

“It’s fun its safe it’s local and you’re not worried about letting them run around and play,” said mother of three, Ashley Vasquez

Over 75 non-profits and businesses along with churches and local civic groups provided information on their organizations and programs.
