A semi smashed into a Broken Arrow Expressway bridge early Tuesday morning, briefly closing down 31st street.

Police say the truck was just two inches too tall for the bridge, and it got stuck in the eastbound lanes of 31st around 1:30 am.

The impact peeled back part of the trailer's metal walls.  The driver suffered some neck and back pain, he was taken to the hospital to be checked out.  By 4:30 the truck was freed, and towed away.

An ODOT crew is expected to inspect the bridge sometime Wednesday.
