The State Senate committee has approved a bill to double fines for littering.

They have decided to increase the fine from 200 dollars to 400 dollars in addition to any court costs imposed on a violator.

The Proposal’s Author says, “The increase would make the fine more meaningful.”

Under the current law, littering fines are divided equally into county-operated reward funds and a special fund operated by the county sheriff that is aimed at targeting littering.
