Not a politician, but he's campaigning by hitting the streets with his message.

“Take a look at the facts,” said David Tackett.

"I’ve got a problem with how this is being done," said Tackett.

He’s talking about a quarter-cent sales tax proposal. Money that would support Bell's Amusement Park coming to the Coweta area, the vote is two months away. Enough time for him to convince people in Wagoner County to say no.

"What we are saying no to is the way it’s being financed, the way it’s being proposed," Tackett.

Instead, he'd like to see owners fund the project themselves.
Tackett says financially, times are too tough.

"We're only part of the package," said Robbie Bell, President of Bell's Amusement Park.

Bell says the total package includes bringing money to the areas economy.

“This is a very conservative area and an over-taxed area," said Tackett.

Between now, and voting day, David figures he'll drive his point’s home through word of mouth, and through his new website. The address speaks for itself. nobell'stax.com.

"We can't raise taxes," said Tackett.

Bottom line, he says the bottom line matters most.

The vote on July 27 will decide what's next for bells and Wagoner County.

From a look at the Coweta American some of the Cowetans are complaining about the tax, saying they don't need it in a difficult economy. Also they are afraid that gangs will start showing up. By adding jobs, (including security), wouldn't that actually be a boost to the area economy while taking care of the criminal element? The only argument I saw worthwhile is their thoughts about losing the "small town atmosphere". I lived in Coweta for twenty years and I understand there are a lot of uptight, penny-pinchers residing there, usually only willing to spend any amount of dollars on sports.

Actually, I guess Tackett has a job while a lot of teenagers and folks working second jobs having trouble. Bells will supply jobs running the facility, jobs building the facility, jobs inspecting the facility and jobs at restaurants, fast food and convience stores selling gas. Lets vote in a business to prop up Coweta and surrounding small towns.

I would love to see Bell's come back to Tulsa where it was appreciated and would be again, at least by those of us with children and grand children. Bell's should never have been forced out of business by people that has no compassion for our children. It was a clean and safe place for them to spend the summer. Now that the witch is gone why can't we get Bell's back. Didn't I see in the news about a week ago that Bell's was paying in excess of $400.000 a year to the county, and IRONIC, that the county is inrears of $400.000...MMMMM, someone needs to pull their head out and BEG Bell's to come back.
