A smelly situation in Owasso after a truck carrying animal carcasses spilled on the highway.
Part of highway 169 southbound was closed after the truck spilled around 8 a.m. but was re-opened by noon.
Tuesday morning, Owasso police got the a rendering truck had spilled animal carcasses all over highway 169 right in the middle of morning rush hour.
“Shock and driving upon it, it will just gross you out," said Dorris Lee, an Owasso resident. “It's absolutely gross, how you couldn't secure the vehicle to make sure something like that wouldn't happen, that's kind of disturbing," she added.
Owasso police said the truck was driving from a plant north of Owasso when the driver hit the brakes too hard, causing the carcasses to spill out.
“At least they had it blocked off so people could drive around it," said Lee.
After ODOT poured this white powder on the road the orange cones were removed and all lanes were reopened, about three hours later.
Christina Carr didn't drive by the spill and is thankful for it.
"I am so glad I didn't smell that this morning," she said.
But Lee said she can still smell something in the air.
“There’s a faint smell, you can’t really tell what it is. Maybe it's the chemical,” she said.
Owasso police said the driver won't get any type of ticket for this because it was a pure accident that’s just caused a big inconvenience.
