Green Country contestants who auditioned in Oklahoma City were featured on American Idol on Thursday night.
FOX23 was there for the auditions and interviewed some of the ‘golden ticket’ recipients who are headed to the Hollywood audition.
Every breath and each song is precious for Kayden Stephenson of Tulsa. Stephenson tells FOX23 he has the personality and voice and to win this season of American Idol.
"I’m going to give America the best voice that they’ve ever heard,” said Kayden.
Kayden wasn’t afraid during the audition process because he is fighting a bigger battle: cystic fibrosis.
Kayden’s mother, Stephanie Franklin, says her son has been a performer since he was toddler. She says that she is fully supportive of her son because he has to live a life fuller than most.
“I’m just so excited to share with America the light that he has to shine,” said Stephanie, “Life is pretty precious with him.”
Kayden received a golden ticket during his audition in Oklahoma City and is headed to Hollywood for another round of competition.
“Nicki Minaj told me that I was very unique and I sound like Michael Jackson,” said Kayden.
Kayden says he hopes that Oklahoma can help rally around him during his journey.
“Stand behind me and give me courage to show that I can do it,” said Kayden.
