Fall is a busy time for ATV purchases, and with that comes a safety concern. Making sure children are properly prepared to ride 4-wheelers that are highly powered.
" When a customer comes in and asks to look for a small 4-wheeler or dirt bike for their child, the first question out of our mouth is how old is the child," M&W Powersports Kevin Adank said.
A question that has to be asked, because some of these machines are way to powerful for a child to operate. M&W Powersports says these vehicles aren't made to hand over to children and let them go ride, and it doesn't matter how old the child is.
" Its a family machine to get mom and dad and their interests in their child in having fun, its not a baby sitting tool at all, its not appropriate," Adank said.
While ATV stores preach all the proper safety procedures, ultimately once the parent walks out the door with a 4-wheeler for their child, they're the ones responsible.
