A Tulsa man remains in a coma tonight after a random drive-by robbery. The man’s daughter says there was no reason for the thieves to shoot him.
It happened two weeks ago in the 6300 Block of E. Independence Street in North Tulsa.
Robbery detectives need the community’s help in catching the men who shot 42-year-old Brian Barnett.
FOX23’s Abbie Alford talked to the victim’s daughter who is pleading to find the shooters.
Not even a block away from Barnett’s home, two robbers rolled up in a 1990’s White Ford Probe.
"He explained to them, 'I have no money, I have been laid off, I don't have a job right now,'" says Tiffany Barnett, the victim’s daughter.
Still Barnett gave the robbers his bare wallet.
"Two dollars and some change," says Tiffany Barnett.
It wasn’t enough to take his last penny so the crooks shot him point blank.
"It was a 12-gauge shotgun and it wasn't something small," says the victim’s daughter.
She tells FOX23 somehow her father managed to walk to his cousin’s house around the corner.
"It was a miracle that he was able to walk," says Tiffany Barnett.
And tell neighbors what happened.
"Screaming at him for his money, ‘give us your money, give us everything you have,’" says the daughter.
Mr. Barnett has almost given his life. He flatlined for thirty seconds before doctors brought him back, he lost part of his colon, his liver and now some of the shotgun pellets have moved to his lungs.
"Today was his seventh surgery," says Tiffany Barnett. "We're all just fighting for him. We know he's fighting and he's not giving up."
Robbery detectives say they are not giving up on finding the gunmen.
"We want justice for our dad. We want this case solved. We want to catch these guys,” says Tiffany Barnett. “It's a terrible feeling and no other family deserves that."
The suspects are believed to be riding in a 1990’s White Ford Probe. One suspect is desribed to have "RIP" tattooed across his cheek with a tattoo of a face. That suspect is also known to go by "Dirty C" on the streets.
