The Tulsa Police Department will now manage the 911 center and that means people at the dispatch center will see yet another management change.

The division is now under the supervision of Terry O’Malley. She'll report to Police Chief Chuck Jordan.

Mayor Bartlett said they'd been watching the many recent management changes at the 911 center and weren't happy with the outcome.

He explained why he expects the center to do better under the police department.

“We felt that having it under the control of the police chief, since about 80 percent of the calls require the response of the police department, we thought that would be the best way to accomplish good oversight," said Bartlett.

Everyone at the center will keep their jobs.

911 used to be under the police department, but it was changed many years ago because of certain problems. There's more to this story.
