A dog started barking at something near the hose in the backyard.  That's when a Tulsa woman went to check it out and found a 6-ft boa coiled around her hose.

The red tail Colombian boa is presumed to be a pet that was released by the owner.  The snake is now at Safari Sanctuary.

IT is a good thing IMO that right now in Oklahoma, we do not yet have the problem that Florida is seeing with these invasive exotics. They have such a problem, that it is regulation and mandate that they all be destroyed when they are found, unless certain criteria are found and met. However, if we continue to import these animals, and then release them when we are "tired" of caring, find we no longer have time for them, or the just get too big and burdensome ... we will be in the same "boat" so to speak as Florida. Oklahoma and other states will be home to a multitude of new species, which serves no other purpose than to destroy or native wildlife. Personally, I believe that before an "exotic" can be sold in the U.S., then it must be "ID Chipped" prior to the sale, so the responsible party can be found if the animal is released or escapes.
