Tulsa police are looking for two masked men responsible for the murder of Shell convenience store clerk Peggy Lee Gaytan, 55.

She was a grandmother , described by police a friendly woman who "had no enemies."

Gaytan  was working at the Shell station , near 36th and Harvard. Around 11pm Thursday, two customers walked into the store and found her body in a pool of blood behind the counter.

Stephanie Devault, who lives right behind the Shell station said, "We were just about to go to bed and we heard some sirens going off thinking nothing of it."

When they were told why they heard the sirens they were shocked. Gaytan was gunned down at a place the Devaults know well.

Kevin Devault said, "We walk there all the time to get a soda, snack or something like that."

Tulsa police say surveillance video will be the key to solving this murder. Around 10:45pm Thursday two men huddled together on the south side of the store. Within 5 seconds, one went in the south door, shot the clerk and left through the north door.

Sgt. David Walker said, "He doesn't stop. There doesn't appear to be any conversation between the clerk and the suspect. The clerk looks up, the gun goes off and then obviously she goes down and the suspect runs out of the store."

The men ran east where detective Walker thinks the crooks live or where a car was waiting.

Walker said, "There is a granddaughter who is absent of her grandmother at Christmas time so I think there's going to be a lot of public reaction to that. Somebody knows something."

The robbers covered up in hoodies and bandanas. Their identities hidden. The only real clue is the shooter's shoes. They look like high dollar Air Jordans.

Walker said, "They're robbers who took a life for no good reason."

Worries for the Devaults on this holiday weekend who remember seeing Peggy's smile in the store.

Stephanie said, "The clerks are always really nice and friendly."

Another woman we spoke with says she went in the store three times a day and became friends with Peggy. She says she wants the family to know they're in their thoughts and prayers.

The shooter is described as a white male, age 19-23,  5'8" -5'11" tall, weighing 150-170 pounds, and  armed with a semi automatic handgun.  The shooter was wearing a royal blue hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask, black gloves, black jeans and white with black trim tennis shoes.

Anyone who was there, or who has information on the men in the surveillance pictures, is asked to call Crimestoppers at 918-596-COPS.
