More than 300 acres of land were auctioned off near downtown Tulsa Monday night. Part of the land is located in North Tulsa near Osage Drive and North 25th West Avenue.

Fox23's Sharon Phillips got a firsthand look at the property.

"The land originally belonged to Dr. Samuel Kennedy and he was one of the pioneers and founders of the city of Tulsa," said Brent Wellings.

When the family finally made the land available, they wanted to expose it to as many people as possible and that's why they decided to auction it off. The particular section being auctioned is located less than a mile from the Osage Casino.

"We are going to offer this tract in seven different smaller parcels so those range up to 10 acres up to 50," said Wellings.

The rest is located about 21/2 miles away where a second piece of land sits totaling about 148 acres for a grand total of 310 acres.

"The intended use for both of these tracts of land is for single-family residential purposes," said Wellings.

If you're wondering about any special features on the property near the Osage Casino, there is one hidden gem.

"There's a live water creek that has a limestone bed and it's really unique for this area," said Wellings.

The auction company said the land has a great deal of frontage and is all located within a few minutes of Tulsa's central business district.

Bidders will be allowed to offer up bids for combinations of tracts and we're told the bidding process should last for about an hour and a half.
