In an exclusive investigation, FOX23’s Scott McFarlane found federal security officers with the TSA has seized a wave of handguns from passengers at Tulsa International Airport.

Details from a public records request show 14 guns have been seized from passengers since January of 2012. Passengers can’t bring guns on a plane or into a terminal. Guns must be checked inside checked luggage and you have to notify the airline first.

Many passengers say they simply forgot and a TSA spokesperson says in all of these cases the passengers don’t “have bad intentions.”

Security consultants say findings like these are why screenings are so rigorous. “Here’s the bad news… if you get pulled over to the point that you need an enhanced pat down, it’s going to be intrusive. It’s gotta be intrusive,” says Rich Roth, an airport security consultant.

A TSA spokesperson does say these gun seizures are “all to frequent.”

now that you have given your best liberal effort to fan the flames of pathological fear mongering, why didn't you show the gallon buckets of knives and other instruments that have been mistakenly carried in by passengers. We live in an open carry state and it is reasonable to assume some absent minded people who carry a weapon at all times for perfectly legal reasons would forget from time to time and this should not freak out the paranoid minority that fear what they know nothing about no matter where it occurs. Most people who carry concealed weapons continue to carry them concealed despite recent changes to the law that allow them to openly carry if they have a permit just to placate the nannies that would be the first to scream for help if they needed it and could not defend themselves.
