SAPULPA, Okla. —

A small plane safely made an emergency landing just outside of Sapulpa Tuesday morning.

The FAA told FOX23 the pilot of a single engine Cessna 172 notified controllers his aircraft was having engine trouble and he was going to land in a field near 106th Street South and 177th West Avenue. He called again after he landed and reported being safely on the ground.

FAA officials did not have an exact location where the plane landed, but said it took off from the Jones Riverside Airport going westbound.

The FAA is investigating.
