TULSA, Okla. —

Police said a child predator drove hundreds of miles expecting an illicit rendezvous in Owasso with a 14-year-old girl.

Much to his surprise, 61-year-old Danny George met undercover detectives who were operating a sting Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police said George lives in Clinton, Oklahoma. When he showed up nearly 300 miles away at Los Cabos, police said, they took him into custody.

“There’s going to be some other information come out on this case that I can’t really disclose right now because it does not involve other juveniles that led us to have an interest in this person,” said Deputy Chief Jason Woodruff.

For the last month a detective has been posing as a 14-year-old girl. Not knowing it was a sting, George offered to pay that girl for sex, police said.

Woodruff said George not only spoke to the detective online but also through text messages.

“They were very explicit conversations. There was no doubt he was wanting to pay this girl to have sex with him,” Woodruff said.

Woodruff wouldn’t go into detail about the ongoing investigation but said police will seek multiple felony charges in the case.
