    • A neighbor called police and the dog's handler was able to come home and get him to safety

    An Owasso K9 officer was rescued from a grass fire Friday.

    The fire happened around 131st and Memorial and sent thick smoke right into the kennel housing Samson, an Owasso K9 officer.

    His handler was away from home at the time but a neighbor stepped in to help. He called police and his handler made it back home in time to get to the dog to safety.

    Two agencies responded to the fire and were able to contain it quickly before any structures were damaged.
