Concerned parents contacted FOX23 about a threat allegedly made by a student at the Jenks middle school campus
They said the student threatened to shoot others at Friday's Veterans Day assembly
Jenks Schools contacted parents to say the situation was taken care of
The district says administrators and campus officers disciplined the student "according to district guidelines"
They sent this statement about the threat:
At Jenks Public Schools, we encourage our students and staff members to say something to an administrator or campus police officer if they hear a threat or see something suspicious. In this case, we are proud of our students for taking action and reporting a threat to the proper authority figures.
Middle School administrators and Jenks Campus Police officers dealt with the threat quickly and efficiently. The student was swiftly disciplined according to District guidelines, and we are confident that there is no longer a threat to students or staff members at Jenks Middle School.
It is our top priority to keep our school sites safe for everyone and to keep parents informed. With students and administration working together yesterday, we believe both were accomplished.
