Through my whole life going tO parks from coast to coast I've never found a need for a gun unless it's deer hunting. (they do that at national wildlife reserves , big parks !.!) Oh the other plus factor in creating gun free zones. It's not about protecting the citizen. It's the fines retraining recertification tax tax tax. It's really not polite to point. Proper gun ethics in my book are when you pull that thing out shoot shoot to kill. Otherwise don't pull it.

Re:Rickineufaula The Oklahoma SDA has been effect going on over 12 years now and so far we have yet to regret it. Every year more states even Illinois are enacting more laws that grant law abiding citizens the ability to defend themselves. If it is Dodge City that you are comparing Oklahoma to then you are way off the mark. Take a look at Chicago, Illinois the city with the strictest gun laws in the U.S., they also have the highest murder rate and gun violence than any other city in America.

On January 18 two TU students were robbed at gun point by two thugs on campus grounds ("Gun Free Zone"). So please tell us Jerry McPeak, how do "Gun Free Zones" prevent the criminals from robbing people in them.

What an idiot. With just one single exception, the attack on congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson in 2011, every public shooting since at least 1950 in the U.S. in which more than three people have been killed has taken place in "gun free zones" When are these morons going to figure out that criminals don't follow the laws.

I an 53 years old and my wife and I frequent the local city parks in Tulsa where I live and I have had drawn my concealed handgun three times in the last three years because of thugs on two occasions demanding money and once because of a pit bull attacking a child. When I lived in OKC I had to clear leather several times because of imminent peril by both people and vicious animals. When Jerry McPeak can assure me that I can go to a city park in Oklahoma and not be attacked by someone or their dog, then I will agree to leave my gun at home. It's time that the good citizens be rewarded for their law abiding behavior and not chastised by those who panic at the sight of a lawful firearm. After all, when seconds count the police are always minutes away.
