One week after officers’ raid a Tahlequah business for selling synthetic marijuana FOX23 has learned new information.

Authorities believe The Outer Zone was one of the biggest buyers of fake pot in the country for a supplier recently busted by federal authorities.

"I want those willing to sell this stuff knowing that it's a danger to the public to know they need to stop selling this stuff," said Brian Kuester, the District Attorney for Cherokee County.

He says the shop spent half a million dollars in the last 12 months buying the fake pot, also known as K2.

FOX23 investigated the shop nearly two months ago and witnessed one person buying the synthetic drug.

Smoke shops continue to sell the fake pot is what brought dozens of law enforcers from across Green Country to Northeastern State University for a class on K-2.

Cherokee County undersheriff Jason Chennault is one of the law enforcers learning how to use the laws as they're written to better monitor synthetic drug sales.

"We've had a lot of complaints from parents, from grandparents, from teachers and just concerned citizens about the stuff getting into kids hands," Chennault told FOX23.

"I've smelled it before in the school where people had been smoking," said Tahlequah High School student Drew Latta.

He told us the smell isn't hard to find around school.

"I walked into the bathroom before and it's been really bad," he said.

Some students have suffered seizures and even having their heart stop because of the chemicals.

"I want kids and there parents to know this stuff is not safe," Kuester said.

Hopefully, classes like the one law enforcers participated in will help to keep the synthetic drug not only out of teen hands but out of circulation.

Kuester says a decision on what, if any, charges will be against the owners of outer zone should be made in 30 to 60 days.
