A woman was shot early Tuesday while fighting off an intruder in a south Tulsa apartment.

Around 12:30am police were called to the Stonegate Village apartments near 71st & Memorial. The victim says she heard a knock at the door, she answered it, but only opened the door a crack. The man on the other side asked for someone who was not there, then tried to force his way in. She fought back, grabbing the gun and trying to push him away.

The man fired two shots, the woman was hit in the finger, then the gunman ran off.  Three women and four children were also inside the apartment, they were not hurt. Police do not have a good suspect description.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.

The police are wrong we were not forth coming, "the witnesses are not forth coming with information," we didn't know what happened! Everyone told what they knew and no one was outside. This is not the darn ghetto nor is it the projects, we all look out for our neighbors regardless of what it is, there were 3 kids and 2 adults and it could've been fatal, but thank the Lord that it was not, but it could've been a horrible scene! This {senseless crimes} needs to stop and stop now, before these innocent kids/babies get hurt! I am saddened by this and pray for the family affected by it all!

Yep I got chains first, then realized that was a minor obstacle, got steel security doors with a knob lock and deadbolt, then put up a fence around my entire yard with locks on the gates, still don't feel safe from invasion, Tulsa is in sad shape, not improving either, just getting worse every day.
