Woman hit and killed by car identified

Broken Arrow Police have identified a woman who was hit and killed by a car on Wednesday night while crossing a street.

It happened around 7:00pm Wednesday in the 1300 block of E. Kenosha in Broken Arrow. Police say the woman was trying to cross the street, when she was hit by a van. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital by the Broken Arrow Fire Department.

Police say the driver of the van, 43-year old Rusty Sutton, was not at fault.

This is the third person to be hit and killed by a vehicle in Broken Arrow in the last month.

On the night of November 2nd, a man was hit by a truck and killed near Washington & Dogwood. Police say the driver in that case was drunk.

And on October 10th, a bicyclist, Earl Teske was hit and killed near 18th and New Orleans in a hit and run case. A man was eventually taken in for questioning, but his name was not released, and it's not clear if charges were ever filed.

I saw a boy get hit in Broken Arrow today on the way to pick my daughter up from school. It was at 101st & Elm and he was taken to St. Francis. The hospital could not tell me how he was and I can't find anything on the internet about it. Does anyone know what happened to him?

Very tragic for everyone involved :( Its so sad. I am so sorry for the familiy and friends of this woman and of the driver. I know its so dangerous on the streets so I always try and stop and let people cross. I dont know what would do if I ever struck someone,I would be devestated. Prayer for victims family and the drivers family. Sometimes terrible things happen and there is nothing you can do to stop it. I hope the families can put the pieces back together again. My sister in law was in a fatality accident that was not her fault and she was so disturbed to be involved. It has taken over two years for her to even drive again because of the stress of feeling like she killed someone even though they hit her. Its not easy being in those shoes.

Stupid joggers on the main streets before daylight dressed in black scare the hell out of me,aren't there jogging paths?

They need to put more lights up because that woman that got hit by the was my coworker and someone I love. By putting up light it can help drivers see people crossing the streets. And just maybe it can help.

Shani70: Go ahead roll the dice and HIT that pedestrian, especially when they are outside the crosswalk. They deserve to die because your game rules say so. After that your game is over. A more popular game rule maker will introduce you to a whole new game board. It's called ODOC. It's kinda like Jumangi, but you can't roll the dice and get out. Readers no matter how irritated or inconvenienced please remember that pedestrians have the right of way even outside the crosswalk. Most drivers, while stopped at an intersection believe that the crosswalk is their launchpad and observation point for right turn on red after almost stopping and will springboard our into traffic with little regard for whatever may be in the crosswalk. I usually cross a half a block before the lights. That way I have a better chance to see the cars coming.

Jaywalking is a common occurrence in Tulsa, nobody seems to know how to push a button. At 41st and Garnett it is a bad problem.It irritates me, they'll be just a few feet from a crosswalk,yet chose to dart out across traffic.I refuse to slow down, I have the right of way.
