A fly baked into a Kum & Go pizza was discovered as a customer took a bite.

When FOX23 News saw the pizza we uncovered another insect baked in the dough.

The box says 'Fresh baked pizza' and you can buy a large for $10.99.

"I went to bite it again and I look and I see a wing," said Sherita Washington.

The manicurist took one bite of the Kum & Go and pizza and stopped before she could take another bite.

"I moved the pepperoni and I said, 'Jennifer what does that look like to you?'" said Washington.

Her co-worker, Jennifer Nguyen who bought the pizza, said it was a fly.

"A damn fly, and I've been sick ever since," said Washington.

There have been stories in the past about varmints in food.

"That is baked in there, that was cooked," said Washington.

As FOX23 News was at the nail salon where the women work the women found another insect baked in another piece of pizza.

"I didn't even notice that. What is that? What the hell?" said Nguyen. “Oh, Jesus."
After a closer look on tweezers they saw there were hairs on the insect.

"Oh, it has legs. Oh, God," said Nguyen.

When they quit digging in the pizza they called Kum & Go corporate again.

"We haven't been able to get in touch with anybody," said Washington.

We were in the nail salon when Nguyen called. "I do want you to know that we do have FOX23 News here.

Kum & Go spokesperson Megan Elfers said on the phone and confirmed with FOX23 News company food inspectors were on site to investigate food safety.

"This is a huge priority for us and we need to immediately find out what happened," said Elfers on the phone.
FOX23 News bought its own pizza and did not find flies.
Nguyen sent Elfers pictures of the insects and the company called her back, telling her they would reimburse her and give her a gift card.

FOX23 News checked with the Tulsa Health Department and found quarterly inspection records since that Kum & Go location opened in May.

There were several sanitation violations and warnings that were fixed and this is the first complaint filed against this location.

Food program manager Debbie Watts says she has seen worse and better inspections.
She says inspectors are making this a high priority and will check the store and see how to keep this from happening again.

On the rare occasions that I've ever stopped at K&G there were very few customers there. I'm starting to understand why. Beauty salon nail techs too cheap to get real pizza after huffing nail polish all morning.

What a ridiculous waste of news time. I would be willing to bet that Abbie told them to call the Corporate office. Why didn't they return it. I am sure they would have been willing to give them another pizza. If Abbie or the ladies who bought the pizza know how you can totally eliminate flies I'm sure they could make a fortune. Why in hell did she call the Health Department? Every restaurant has flies. I buy food at their deli quite often and have no intention to stop. I believe Abbie owes the store an apology.

This is ridiculous. This is not news, this is a simple customer service issue. Companies have to deal with things like this every day. What's next? My Starbucks coffee was cold?

You guys should be ashamed for calling yourself a news organization. You are sensationalists and nothing more. "Baked into the dough" Are you that ignorant. The fly was ON TOP of the the damn pizza, how is that "baked into the dough. Jesus christ, it is the middle of the summer, flies are EVERYWHERE, but here you are dumping on Kum and Go just to get people riled up. I have found bugs in my food in the past, and do you want to know how I handled it? I simply asked for a different damn dish. It is no ones fault when an annoying, hard to kill, hard to control insect finds its way into unpleasant places. It happens. Shame on this woman for making such a big damn deal out of this and SHAME on YOU for sensationalizing this into some big deal! Report the real damn news. There is genocide taking place throughout the world and you are reporting on insects in food. You are all a joke for working at this half ass station.
