Owasso vandals are targeting a day care just feet away from children.

When thieves slashed all four tires on the Children's Depot van three times, the owners had to replace them each time.

"It gets very tiring," said Roxanne Blom.

She and her husband own the day care and each time the tires are slashed it costs them $1,000.

"A thousand dollars is a thousand dollars. It goes a long way for kids' curriculum and toys and fixing up the building and yet we have to replace four new tires again," said Blom.

Thieves stole a battery from the newer school bus.

"It was one of those surprises why you couldn't start the bus," said Blom.

The theft delayed a field trip.

The owners bought locks for the newer school bus to deter the thieves and vandals.

"He had to put locks on the back door and the battery, on this door and on the electrical panel," said Blom.

The vandals are hitting overnight but also during the day.

When Sara Thomas, a teacher at the day care, left her lunch break she found her passenger-side window had been broken.

"I just had tears running down my face because that is a lot of money to get a new window," said Thomas.

She also has a 1-year-old boy.

"He had a bunch of glass in his car seat, glass in the books he reads, I had to clean everything out before I could give it to him," said Thomas.

When FOX23 News called Owasso police to learn more about its Facebook post encouraging residents to report suspicious activity, they said graffiti is also appearing across the city.

"We really care, we have civic pride," said Gail Bullinger.

She called police when saw her neighbor's garage tagged with vulgar language.
"It really frightened me because the first thing I thought is if they are going to do that house, what if mine is next?” said Bullinger.

Neighbors like Bullinger and Blom hope more people will be aware and call police.

"If more people know about it they will be keeping an eye on it as well," said Blom.
