The Union High School Air Force Junior ROTC has been selected to represent Oklahoma in the January 21st Presidential Inaugural Parade.

Union officials say their participation hinges on the AFJROTC's ability to raise $40,000 for transportation, food, and lodging by the time they leave for Washington D.C. on January 17.

Four years ago a different group of Union AFJROTC cadets marched in the parade celebrating the historic first inauguration of President Barack Obama. Union's AFJROTC was then, and will be again this year, the only high school ROTC unit to march in the parade.

The group's booster club is accepting donations to send the cadets on this once-in-a-lifetime trip, made payable to:

Union AFJROTC Booster Club
Union High School 9th Grade Center
7616 S. Garnett
Broken Arrow, Ok. 74012

Donations made to Union AFJROTC Booster club may be made online:

These kids have worked very hard donating their time to all types on evens, in Tulsa and surrounding areas, to help Oklahoma's with all types of needs. People see them in their uniforms representing and standing up for all of our armed forces. They help out with every event that they are asked to help with. Not once have I heard them ask why should we help, they just line up to volunteer. I personally am very proud of all of these kids and I think we all need to step up and help them with this once in a life time event in which they are representing our state. Proud Oklahoma

I guess putting a bunch of kids in the Ritz isn't cheap, along with steak dinners.
