A Tulsa police confirm two men have been arrested, after a pastor was shot in his north Tulsa home early Tuesday morning.

It happened near north Denver and west 27th Street north around 2:00am Tuesday.  The victim, who is a pastor and a business owner in north Tulsa, told police a teenage girl approached him outside his home, making small talk, and then just a few minutes later, someone was breaking into the back door.

The homeowner confronted the robbers and was shot. After the shot was fired, the suspects ran away. The victim made his way over to a neighbor's house a few hundred feet away and called 911. He was taken to the hospital, and is expected to survive.

"It's what we call a tragedy," said Pastor John Anderson, who lives across the street from Brooks.

He’s known Brooks for more than 40 years. Anderson told FOX23 times like these remind him to lean on his faith more.

"We don't know how short our lives may be on this earth and make preparations to see the lord whenever he does call us," he said.

Brooks' last church, the City of Refuge International Ministries, was damaged by a fire three years ago. He also owns a restaurant off Archer and Cincinnati.

Markendrik Wilson and Joeiune Nelson were arrested in connection with the crime.
