Tulsa police officers credited with saving baby

Two Tulsa police officers are credited with saving the life of a premature baby early Monday morning.

According to police, Officers Hill and Goldstein were called to assist EMSA at a home in west Tulsa around 1:45 a.m. about a woman who had given birth prematurely.

Officers arrived before EMSA and found the woman and baby in the bathroom, the baby was unresponsive. Off. Goldstein performed CPR on the baby until it began breathing again and then tied the umbilical cord.

EMSA arrived soon after and the mother and baby were taken to the hospital in stable condition.

That's two "unresponsive babies" in two weeks saved by TPD. Oh, and any emergency room staff can tell you that once you begin CPR you dont stop until a physician tells you to, so at least some of this is made up.

No other reports even mention CPR, and it was the mother that tied the umbilical cord. This story deals with a lot of assumptions rather than facts.

What im reading everywhere is that the officers never actually touched the baby, but rather "coached" the parents with the assistance of the 911 dispatcher.

KG1 #8 ^]] You don't have to pass out cigars. But kudos for these two. Often they are saddled with taking life. Not giving it.
