Tulsa mother arrested for abuse

A young mother is accused of fracturing her three-month old child’s leg and clavicle.

Jessica Newell was booked for child abuse last Friday. Police say when Newell was changing the baby’s diaper it would not stop crying.

The baby was taken to St. Francis and a pediatrician discovered the fractures. The doctor says the injuries were caused by excessive force.

Newell told police she did not mean to hurt the baby but may have picked up the baby’s leg too hard.
