Starting at 8 a.m. Monday, Tulsa city workers will remove limbs and green debris left in piles on the curb around Tulsa.

Janice Coffen spent her Sunday preparing for the special green waste pickup.

Coffen said, “Well we had a lot of tree damage, a lot of tree damage.”

Tree branches covered her yard after the storm, but not anymore because she is ready for the city's special curbside debris cleanup.

She said, “I’ll be glad when they get it all so we can finish the yard and I don't have to think about it anymore.”

Tulsa city workers will pick up branches and green waste from the storm if left in piles on the curb. Big branches and trees should not be longer than 4 feet.

FOX23 learned the city needs neighbors to park cars away from debris piles to give crews more room to work.

Coffen said she found her neighbor's shingles, branches and other debris in her yard.

According to the city’s website, roofing will not be picked up during this city sweep.

City crews will start the green waste pickup around the perimeter and work into the center of the city, meaning Coffen may not have her green waste picked up for a little while.

She said, “Well just as long as they pick it up, that's all I care.”

She told FOX23’s Price McKeon, “We really do appreciate it (the city crew’s work) because there's no way I can get this and haul it off myself. There’s just no way.”

The special green waste pickup is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. People can also take any green waste to the processing site on E. 56th Street North for free.

Tulsa city’s website said regular household trash and recycling will continue as normal. It also said normal scheduled green waste will not resume until after the city has a full storm green waste sweep.

That's probably contract labor with no real ceiling on the cost.
