Three longtime friends in Collinsville are sharing more than just a pot of coffee. They claimed a $1 million Powerball jackpot.
Lester Belt Jr., 71, Johnny Hall, 71 and William Webb, 81, call themselves The Coffee Buddies because they visit over coffee every morning. Last Wednesday, they decided to take a chance a buy a Powerball ticket since the jackpot was $587.5 million.
The men were surprised to learn of their win. Hall, who was keeping the tickets in his safe, wrote down the numbers, but transposed one number on the winning line. They didn't find out they had the winning ticket until Monday, when they took the tickets to the 4-Way Stop convenience store to be checked out.
They will each take home $236,667 after state and federal taxes.
This is the 21st million dollar prize paid out by the Oklahoma Lottery.
